The Lion, the witch and the wardrobe is a story about four siblings -Peter, Susan, Edmund, and Lucy Pevensie-in a land called Narnia. It began when they were evacuated from London during the World War II to escape the Blitz. One day, they play hide and seek and while the four are exploring the house. Somehow Lucy went into a room where there is a wardrobe inside it. Then she went into the wardrobe and discover a magical world there. She met with a faun named Mr. Tumnus and have a tea time in his house. But after that he confessed he planned to report her to the pretend queen of Narnia, known as the White Witch. He regretted in and soon bring her back to the real world before she's getting caught. Surprisingly Lucy met Edmund just shortly before exiting the wardrobe. Not longer after that, Lucy told her experience to Peter and Susan and also mention Edmund as the witness -because he was there- to prove she wasn't lie but Edmund he denies Lucy's claim that Narnia lies behind the wardrobe. Finally all of them enter Narnia together while hiding in the wardrobe. They meet Mr. and Mrs. Beaver, who invite them to dinner. The beavers recount a prophecy that the witch's power will fall when two Sons of Adam and two Daughters of Eve fill the four thrones at Cair Paravel. The beavers tell of the true king of Narnia, a great lion named Aslan who has been absent for many years but is now "on the move again."
MY OPINION:
It's an amazing fantasy story which is involved variety of mythological creatures such as faun, satyr, dryad, etc. The first time I knew about Narnia from a movie recommended by my sister. I'm lazy to watch it at first because I thought it would be like Harry Potter that i don't really like. But yeah, then I tried and realized that was so cool! Later my brother offered me his book collection of The Chronicles of Narnia then I read it. And this is the only story in which I saw the movie first before reading the novel and found that it's also the only movie that worked as good as the novel.
WHAT I LIKE:
- When their uncle suddenly appeared in Narnia, and gave them unique wapon as a Christmas gift.
- When Aslan came to Narnia and help them against the White Witch.
- When they were crowned as king and queen of Narnia.
WHAT I DISLIKE:
- When Edmund lied about Narnia to Peter and Susan and made Lucy become sad.
- When Edmund betrayed his siblings and went to the palace of the White Witch. That was the beginning of all the problems
So, I recommend this adventurous book for you to read! Happy reading!
